Saturday 10th December and some of the Team Leics U14 squad were grateful for the chance of another local tournament and not such an early start on a dark winter weekend morning.
Players for Leicestershire today were Owen King and Lewis Whyley for the boys and Evie Pike and Grace Sherwin for the girls. With singles up first, it was Grace making the first medal chances by winning all her group games before continuing her progression into the semi finals. Here, she once again faced her namesake, Grace Sachdeva from Yorkshire, a rapidly improving young player who she last played at the recent MK U15 Silver. In a tense match, our Grace was just pipped to the post 22-20 but took home a well-earned bronze medal nonetheless.
In the boys doubles, U14 teammates Owen and Lewis were unbeaten through the group stages, winning their quarter final with ease before also losing out in another very close semi final to the Wesh pair of Kite & Morgan, also 22-20, for another bronze medal win!
