On Sunday December 13th Leicestershire 11/12yrs played a friendly match against Derbyshire, and it turned out to be a very rewarding day .

Mixed Doubles we won 11 out of 12 games. A clean sweep in the boys singles a 6-0 win for us plus a 12-0 win in the Boys and Girls doubles.

The Girls singles we won 4 out of 6 , so the overall score was Leicestershire 28 – Derbyshire 3.

Three of Derbyshire girls dropped out at the last minuet, so 3 Leicestershire girls helped out , a big thank you to Ella Coyne , Molly Copping and Olivia Meddes.

Thanks to all the players and to the parents for their support.

Primary Midway 2015

On Sunday 6th December 2015 the Primary Midway team: Mitesh, Thomas, Freddie, Lucas, William, Emily, Jiya, Georgina, Carly, Abbi : travelled to Sheffield to compete in the first leg of the competition.

The first round saw the team face Warwickshire 3, and we had a convincing 10-0 win. The next opposition, Cheshire 1, was going to be much tougher, and after a great team effort we picked up 3 games, and lost 7-3. This saw us finish 2nd in our box and we then faced Warwickshire 2, again we had a convincing 9 – 1 win. The last match of the leg was against Derbyshire who we knew we would have a close game against. This did not disappoint. Going into the final game of the match, Leicestershire knew we had to win the game to draw the match, and then it would be down to points …… Well we did it, Emily and Mitesh won the game 21-9 …. was it going to be enough? Then we had the nail-biting job of counting the points …………. not only had we drawn the match on games, we had also drawn on points …. 5 games all / 159 points each! This meant we had to go back to the points both Leicestershire and Derbyshire had scored against Warwickshire 2 and Leicestershire had one more point then Derbyshire, giving us the 4th place.

A double Gold for Eve Dale

A good turn out by Leicestershire players at the Northampton bronze u15 proved a very successful day for Eve Dale winning the doubles with Hritika Modi and then the singles coming from behind to win a brilliant final 23-21.

Eve’s double gold in Northampton followed her first singles gold medal the week before in the Worcester u15. This was added to by a silver with Hritika in the doubles giving a nice medal haul of three golds and a silver over two weekends!

U15 win v Cambridgeshire

Report written by Hritika and Tom C.
On 6th December 2015 the U15 Leicestershire squad rolled out to play their first match against Cambridgeshire. It was a normal day until Sameer arrived early (!), Tom C found a rusty, old dilapidated bike, the brakes didn’t work and it promptly almost killed him….leaving the bike abandoned as it was found, the players promptly marched into the sports hall to hopefully beat Cambridgeshire! The team had a strong start winning all of the mixed matches comfortably.
Next came the boys singles, started with three wins in two straight games, Martin playing the number 1 boy, won in three.
In the girls singles Ella battled hard, however, it was not enough to restrain the immense skill of her F graded opponent. The rest of the girls singles were won without hassle.
Both boys doubles were victorious against their counterparts, only Tom L and Daniel failed to come out on top against the Cambridgeshire first pair.
Moving onto the girls doubles, all matches were won comfortably, apart from Ella and Jasmin who had to work hard to secure their victory in three against the Cambridgeshire first pair.
After a long day of blood, sweat and tears, minus the blood, Leicestershire came out on top with a strong start to the season! Leicestershire 18 Cambridgeshire 2
